We’re passionate about permaculture, and have been developing game-like simulation systems with which to play, and learn, and design.
In the spirit of Christopher Alexander‘s Gatemaker project we aim to combine the respective strengths of human and machine, as we believe that the biggest advances will come from that synergy. Humans are obviously wonderful in remarkable ways, and computers are extremely fast, always available, and can store massive amounts of data. Computers can therefore be used to simulate, to solve, to visualise, to ‘teach’, to provide context-sensitive information, and especially to give insight by allowing for exploration of dynamic systems. The human as designer should therefore be in control, with the computer coming alongside with visuals and data and computation to quickly solve constraints, so that possibility spaces can be explored collaboratively.
We get extremely excited about the possibility of a world where every single person is a designer of their own regenerative and sustainable environments.
