We designed the WeCode24 pilot phase logo.
We wanted something that is generated by code, so that it could become a ‘live’ simulation that can be interacted with.
On a conceptual level, we also wanted to capture the idea that basic elements can combine to create complex systems. We captured this with:
- Sine waves — A fundamental wave which can be combined to create any other wave.
- Blocks — These communicate pixels. A pixel, from picture+element, is the fundamental element that is combined to create all raster graphics.
The logo is also a hat tip to the wonderful Seymour Papert, through the impression of gears and turtles (the negative space in the middle forms a turtle).
