A zoetrope is a device that you spin to animate a series of drawings.

We built a number of zoetropes to let people directly experience the illusion of motion caused by animation. We exhibited the zoetropes at a festival, and invited people to draw their own animation cycles on 2-meter long lengths of paper. They could then place these inside the zoetropes to see them come to life.
